Exactly; funny; as I typed my original message I couldn't remember what they might get caught up on, but now that you mention the paw getting stuck, I think that exact thing happened to one of mine) (luckily I was there, which was when & why mine quit wearing them. I suppose as they get older it's less likely to happen, but why take the chance?
I looked at my vet records on Halle (as they were handy since she's just had a litter..of one), and I see that she got microchipped when she was 4 months old. But check with your vet; it may depend on the size and/or health of each individual dog.........or vet preferences.
