  As a breeder/exhibitor, if you properly test your breeding females, males and pups you can most certainly guarantee your pups and stand behind them.  The health guarantee that only replaces a pup is worth nothing.  
Most reputable breeders do not sell their girls for a higher price than boys.  Why? Supply and demand.  Especially if you sell on a spay/nueter contract.   
As you say good breeders make sure their pups are well socialized and well adjusted.  That's why they don't let them go to their new homes at a minimum before 12 weeks of age and weighing 2 pounds.  They must have a minimum of 2 innoculations and have been vet checked and had all the required testing performed.....YTCA breeders are mandated to do this in their code of conduct and ethics.
