We swear by the band that Des sells at
go.fetch™. They are so easy to use, stay in well and come out easily also. We have tried many other brands, but these are the best!!!!
We always have a band in to create the pony, and all our bows have the french clip barrettes. Depending on the size of the clip, it either gets clipped literally right over the band, or under the hair in front of the band if it is smaller. This is the only way we can make it work.
If we use the jewelled hair clips (of which we have many) with the little claw clamps, we also use a band and clip them over the band.
If you have difficulty with fly-away hair between on the forehead and eyes, Pet Silk Top Knot Gel works great to keep the hair in place. You only barely need to touch your finger to it and smooth onto the hair. I know some folks just use human hair gel.
