Default Whines for Attention

I have a 7 mos old Yorkie that loves to play. He would rather play then eat. He is also very communicative and constantly lets us know he wants to play. He prefers playing with us not by himself or with the cat. We do play with him quite a bit but there are plenty of times I need to work (I homeschool my children) and there are times I just want to sit with my husband and watch tv.

He looks so pitiful when we don't play with him plus there is the whining and barking. And, now he has started jumping over us to the back of the couch to try to get our attention from a different angle I guess.

I don't want to do him a dis-service but I can't play with him as much as he wants.
