Muffin used to get tonsillitis. It was usually, or should I say especially, when the seasons changed. She would start coughing and had trouble stopping, so the vet told me to give her the liquid cherry-flavored benedryl and so I always kept it and even though it didn't happen often, I was always ready for it. Sometimes one dose wouldn't do it and I'd have to go back later and give her another dose. It always got rid of it and she could sleep then and so could I.
