Baytril is a heavy hitter. Pups are usually taken off nursing completely. I know I had one of my girls go down with her last litter when the pups were a week old. She had a serious infection due to a ripped horn. The dosage was extremely high, but were fighting a horrible infection. She never lost her appitite, thank goodness and was on the Baytril for a month and never lethargic, never had an upset tummy.

Amoxicillin will do nothing, if there is an infection.
