Maybe she should ask the vet about getting amoxicillin instead of the Baytril.
Baytril is the heavy hitter for canines. It should be reserved for serious infections. If the dose is too high it will cause upset tummy and loss of appetite. My vet gives 5mg per 5 lbs. If it's known that there is a uterine infection he will give 10mg per 5 lbs. I've read this thread.....this vet seems to be a dummy....I would search for another vet ASAP. What he has said does not make any sense. Esclampsia is a very serious condition...the bitch could die. sorry but that's the truth. She may need to see an emergency vet ASAP. If I had a bitch in this condition I would not be on the computer asking questions....I would be getting her to a proper vet. Please do get this girl some help soon.
