I love the buddy belt too, I first saw it at a meet-up and Wylie's Mom was using it on her two boys. There's something about this belt that I just fell in love with, not only the safety of the harness, but the way the belt looks going across their back. I got one for Joey, but I've got to say the pictures on the web, don't do it justice, it really needs to be modeled by a yorkie.
You are so right the leather is so soft, and after over 2 years it looks good as new, and for those whose hands get a little stiff, it's so much easier to fasten than the clip type harnesses.
