I am not a professional breeder by any means but I do have 5 happy healthy 8 week old puppies. I was told by other breeders here to offer our puppies ground up (put it in a blender) puppy kibble (Chicken Soup for the puppies lovers soul is what I use) by 4 weeks to START the weaning process which takes awhile. At about 5 to 6 weeks the puppies on their own would eat the ground up kibble and loved it. At 7 weeks we gave them the kibble without grinding it again they love it. My puppies are 8 weeks old today and their momma has weaned them over the past week. If they try to nurse now she growls at them. I think just making sure the pup eats and drinks and gains weight (you have to weigh him daily) and call your vet if anything changes. Good Luck!
