The vet told us little Reesie has a corneal dystrophy. Right now it's her left eye only but will probably affect her right eye as well. It's genetic. She doesn't paw at it and her pupils are equal and reactive, so the vet doesn't believe she has any vision loss also because the spot is off-center. Anyone else here experience this?

But she's been in a funk for about the last week. Not very interested in food, but will hunt for mice alongside her buddy Cindy like no tomorrow. She loves the car rides and walks. We haven't seen my daughter in quite a while so it may be seperation anxiety, or it may be some fuzziness in her vision. Sometimes I wish I could get into her mind and see what she's thinking.

Something I've wanted to say for a while here is about getting a Yorkie for the wrong reasons. My daughter thought it was cute to have a tiny dog that was expensive. A sort of a mark of social status. Since then she's gone on to nursing school, has a 12 hour a day nurses assistant job, and no time for the little one. I guess I have to thank her for buying me a Yorkie, but it isn't a kind thing to do to parents or the pooch. Please, all you young girls out there that think you want a Yorkie, wait until you have time to care for it properly. This is a lifetime commitment, the dog's lifetime, which is very short compared to ours. Make sure you can give it your very best before you make a decision and bring a little one home that will wind up lonely and sometimes a little lost. It's the only good thing that has come out of my current lack of a job. I have nothing but time for the two dogs.
I just brought home a retired show dog named Danny this past Saturday (my baby Lola's, brother). I also noticed the same issue with one of his eyes. The one thing that I also noticed was that, if you look at his eye from the side view (around the front pupil) it doesn't look round anymore. I can see a bit of a flat spot where the grayish color sore is. He doesn't mess with it at all and when I tap my finger around his eye he blinks. So I know he still can see out of it. We have a Doctor appointment scheduled for this coming Friday when we return to our Breeders house for weekend visit. I'm hoping they will tell me what he has as well and if will cause him blindness.

I'm a bit stressed out over the possibility of whether he will loose his eye site in the future or if this will be a expensive eye issue in the future fir him. I was wondering if you might be able to answer a few questions and concerns before going to our Doctor visit.

Have you had anymore issues with Reesie's eye since you posted this Thread?
Did your Vet give you any type of medication to put inside Reesie's eyes?
Did they tell you how often you need to have it rechecked?
Do you know if it if contagious from pet to pet? I know you said it can go into Reese's other eye.

Thank you very much,
Diana, Lola & Danny
