new house, afraid at night? So this is an odd one. Diane is now a little more then 1 year old. During her first year she lived in the same home but visited a friends home very often (once or twice a week at least).
I recently 'partially moved' (i move between two homes now). To transition Diane i would take her to the new house one night, then leave her at the old house for three or four nights (she is our family dog so there's people she loves in both places, ie no separation anxiety).
Everything works fine except when she wakes up at night (to go potty or just because she hears a loud noise) she becomes terrified! She will shake and just sit up and not sleep. She will just quietly shiver in the dark.
Diane always sleeps with us, but she is crate trained (i haven't used the crate in almost 8 months - she out grew it).
The only thing that works is putting her under the blankets, but i KNOW that is going to turn into an issue (i'm really trying to avoid having a neurotic dog, she is very calm and good).
Any ideas would be appreciated.
