there is nothing wrong with the way you are training your puppy. many people have success training this way. you tried a different way earlier and it didn't work. now your starting over and she needs to be confined in order to learn. i don't blame you for not wanting to use pee pads. i don't like them either. i don't want a dog peeing or pooping in my house so i confined her and trained her to hold it.
