Conner would get a napkin or a piece of paper and show it to me because he knew I would chase him to get it. I keep all paper off the floor, but sometimes my nieces and nephew leave a paper on the floor or someone will drop a napkin. Conner is right there to pick it up. He just tears it up and does not eat it, so I don't worry about it. Just go and pick up after him. He does not use pee pads (goes outside), but he did tear them up.
