Flying with your dog in cabin is really much easier than you think. No need to sedate, they usually sleep the whole trip.

In her carrier, make sure you place two crate pads, one on top of the other, just in case of an accident. Take a leash, give her a long potty break just before you leave your home. Feed her 3 hours before your trip. Make sure you take puppy wipes, a couple of baggies for disposing any accidents. I usually take a wet wash cloth in a baggie should they need any clean up. I've had a couple of accidents. It's very easy to take the dog into the restroom (a bit crowded in there), it takes a bit of juggling, but doable.
