We have toxic Bofu toads here in South Florida  . One time my Mother's Yorkie licked one and she started foaming at the mouth and went blind and rigid. We had to rush her to the ER vet. Long story short, they said her heart was in arrhythmia and if we had gotten there 1 minute later she would not have made it. It was terrifying. Larger dogs can lick them and sometimes not even notice it, but babies like ours are so much smaller that it really is life threatening.
Sounds like you little one is doing just fine though. It was smart to wash her mouth out. |
Those things are awful. I have a friend in Hollywood who is always on the lookout for them when she walks her pups. Scary.
