I too agree with Brister and Ladymom, I might wait on a female, but never a male, you want to get them neutered before too much testosterone enters the system. The testicles make the bulk of testosterone, but the adrenal glands make some too, and the longer you wait, the more likely that he will mark. Once established, marking can be very hard to eliminate, and it takes a month after neutering before most testosterone is out of the system.
