If your vet did not want to give any medication advice, then it would really be wrong for a lay person to do so.
Although, in saying that, if I called my vet, I know she would prescribe something. I am very surprised, if you have a regular vet that your yorkie sees, that he or she would not give advice. I would be looking for a new vet if that happened!

It was too late to edit the above post. I am a nurse, so I do not give medication advice. What I said really relates only to my policy.

I am surprised that your vet did not give you any advice on what to give for the discomfort.
