The treats are to keep her hydrated, and give her nourishment without upsetting her stomach. The ice cream is for a bit of calcium to stimulate milk production and contractions (not everyone does this). You may want to write down things, like the time when contractions started etc. (sometimes it seems to take forever but really has only been 10 min) That way if you get into trouble you can tell the vet exactly what is going on.
