I live in Charlotte, NC - just to walk in the door down here, it costs $30-50. (I called everyone listed in the book). And the cheapest was $30, but it was PetSmart's vet. However - when I have time, there is a vet located in the town I grew up in (about 1 hour away), where my parents still live. They do NOT charge anything for the visit and you only pay for medicines. And the medicines are sooo cheap. An example - my mom usually took her dog to that vet, but they were closed and she needed our dog to be seen, so she took him to the other one in town. For the exact same meds, same brand and everything, they charged her $60 more. THAT IS RIDICULOUS.
When I have time to go, it is definitely worth the trip. But, you have to wait for HOURS b/c so many people drive from out of town b/c it is so cheap.
I am shocked at some of the prices listed in this post. I knew it was bad, but not that bad.
I just wish every town had a vet like the one from where I grew up.
