It went ok, he said she seems to be fine despite the long night of contractions and he didn't have many guesses as to why the puppy wouldn't take a breath at birth. He said the placenta could have abrupted from the uterine horn before the pup was born, but I don't know about that, since I could feel him kicking just minutes before his birth. And there wasn't any green/black discharge until after he was born. I guess I'll never know. Is there any truth to the statement that first time litters have a lower survival rate than subsequent litters? That is what my vet told me but I don't see how or why that would be..
