When was she spayed?
If you can't get it at home, they should be able to do a cystocentesis (the thing they already attempted with the needle). For Ellie, I just make her drink something an hour before we leave for the vet's and just hold her until they take it. If they are going to send the urine for culture, it is best to do it this way.
