Most groomers have a flat fee......bathing, trimming, ear cleaning, nails clipped is inclusive, anything else is added cost. At times you can get lucky and find a groomer that will give you discount rates if you bring in the furbutt in every 2 weeks.
Grooming fees can be astronomical....you might consider learning how to do it yourself. There is a grooming tape that you can purchase on YTCA.org, not inexpensive, but in the long run it may save you money. Most people say they can't do it, but they key is to be kind to yourself and know that if you make mistakes, you learn by them and the coat will grow back. I know that even with training, my dogs at times look like poster children for Rescue.
