That is a more than fair price for a possible show female with an open contract. I agree with you, just because a dog is sold for a lower price than what other breeders charge does not mean the dog is unhealthy. I breed Sphynx and they are healthy and great quality kittens but I do not charge extravagent prices because I wouldn't be able to get that amount in my area. So I have to go with what the economics are at the time I am selling them.
I bought my 2 year old Niyah for 600.00 from a great breeder and she only weighs 3 pounds. Most people would have sold her for well over a 1000.00 but the breeder sold her for what I thought was a fair price. The great part about it is Niyah was already spayed so I saved a lot money from not having to spay her.
