My two Yorkies always get bendryl orally with their shots.It knocks them out, later. The vet suggested it, and we always do it, just in case of a reaction. I was very impressed because this is the Luv My Pet "vet on wheels" at Petco. It's a low cost vaccination clininc. The vet is awesome!

I can't speak for all their vets. I live in the nw burbs of chicago, so I can only speak for this one vet.

PS, Oh and I usually linger/shop in the store for about a half hr after the shots, just in case of any side effects, though we've never had any. We also never get the Lepto one, due to all the advice against it on this forum.
