I will say that sending them out with a handler may be a less expensive way to go. Since handlers show more than one dog and expenses are split between clients. Then there is the fact that they know which judge prefers what type a dog and the judges know them. Then you add in the price of boarding fees.

But, if you go the route of a handler, you do miss out on the social aspect of the dog world. Meeting other exhibitors, learning tips and tricks from them. Plus the satisfaction of Championing your own dog.

If showing is in your goals, then I'd wait to purchase an older puppy with a great pedigree that is of show quality. Usually a pup should be about 6 or 7 months of age.

By the way their is a Yorkie Specialty in Houston this coming weekend at the Crowne Plaza, Friday, Sat, and Sun
