I agree. Lola, my LS baby, is on Hills LD and Royal Canin Hep 14, and she does fine on that as long as I hand feed her 4 times a day. Hopefully after September we'll be able to change that, but if not she seems to be doing well on it. My male had all sorts of GI problems on commercial food, so I started homecooking for him several months ago and he has not had 1 problem since. It was very simple, organic chicken, rice and green beans with a multivitamin. I realize that it was not completely balanced, but he was doing so much better than before, I hated to make any changes. Of course when my vet heard that, he wanted to blame Harley eating the leaves on his diet - even though the other 2 trips we've made for the same thing (bloody stools after eating a dead leaf, etc.) were while he was on commercial dog food! My life would be much easier if I could just feed him a commercial brand food, but his little tummy just dosen't seem to agree with most brands. That is the reason I was looking for a good nutritionist. |
