It's my little male that eats everything he is not supposed to...so far, he has been able to get rid of it all and no obstruction, but the vet suggested a better balanced diet. I am willing to try anything....He sleeps with us at night and the other night he had opened a seam on his bed and was nibbling at the stuffing inside...I caught him at 4 am and thought I caught him in time - I was wrong. He threw it up 2 days later! I'm just afraid one of these days we won't be so lucky....He is 15 months old - I hope he will outgrow it, too. |
Doctors used to think when children ate something strange like dirt, the had some sort of mineral deficiency. I think this is called a pica, and it's true, some dirt is very rich in minerals, but this doesn't usually happen, unless the person is severely malnourished. I think it's more common that the animal is merely curious and some substances intrigue them more. Stuffing is very intriguing to dogs, and I've read many threads saying how peoples' Yorkies pulled the stuffing out of their dogs, and of course, some will eat it. I'm not familiar with your brand of dog food, and don't know if it may be lacking in certain minerals, and some dogs have a higher need for certain things as well. I found this site very good at explaining what to look for in a dog food.
