My vet suggested that he was not getting a "well balanced" diet...thus his eating what he is not supposed to eat. I think it may just be a Yorkie trait from what I have read and hear, but I'm willing to try a special diet formulated just for him if that might help. We spent last night at the Emergency Vet once again having xrays done to make sure he wasn't obstructed AGAIN...once again, it was just a small, dead leaf that he had eaten and the stem and veins had irritated and possibly scratched his little intestines and caused some blood in his stools. Oh these babies......
Did the doctor say he had to eat a special diet or low protein diet? I can't remember for sure, but I thought the quality of protein was also very important, in these cases, so home cooking might be the best way to ensure that. Depending on how old your little vacuum cleaner is, I know Joey tried to eat everything on the floor or outside the first year, but it really got better after that, and he won't eat non-edible things now, but if it's food, he goes for anything dropped on the floor. I'm thinking about dropping his heartguard pill that he hates to take, I'm guessing if he hears it drop, he'll swallow it before he knows what it is.
