It is a long and not so easy to obtain a show dog from a reputable breeder. Yes, there will a be a contract with co-ownership. Most contracts now contain a 2 generation pedigree and will not allow you to breed until the dog is Championed and any get or produce from said dog will only be allowed to be placed on a spay/nueter contract. Be ready to jump through hoops.

With that said, make sure you do your homework, the breeder you obtain your dog from should become your mentor.
I know things change from time to time. If the OP is well prepared on what to expect he/ she will have a better chance to get what they want out of their search.

It is very unfortunate when people do not know for sure what they want and/or are totally not-educated about how dog "world" works.
Tell me about it !
