Lexi got knocked out! Yesterday morning we were all lounging around and I told my husband that Lexi probably needed to go out to potty again. He took her out the back door and our large Lab/ Shepard mix came to greet my husband. She has a bad habit of jumping on people and my husband was telling her down but when she dropped down she landed on Lexi! When my husband looked down Lexi looked awful. She was stiff as a board with her neck stuck sideways. It was horrible! He ran her inside yelling to me. I could barely look at her. She looked dead. I ran to get my clothes on. The kids were screaming hysterrical. We got her to the vet nearby in record time. By the time we got her there she looked conscious again. The vet asked me to put her on the floor. She walked around slowly. He said "I think she will be alright" and he took her to the back. He came back about five minutes later and said all her vitals were normal. We left with no test ran and today she is back to her normal self. My husband and I now think she had a seizure from hitting her head.
For those of you that do not have a large dog and a yorkie, and are thinking of mixing the two ,they really do not make a great mix. It is very dangerous for your yorkie even if they are great friends, like mine.
I really do not know what I am going to do since we love both our dogs. Just do not put yourself in the same boat as us. We are now considering finding a new home for our big dog. |
