To make a long story short the vet has had him 4 nights with an IV in him. Cant do a complete blood workup on him to find out if he has a liver shunt but preliminary tests indicate he might. Too small to take that much blood right now. Now he has what i would call ticks, neurological, almost like a hickup. Vet does not think they are seizures. He had put him on metrozonidale and two other meds for his fever and is thinking it may be a reaction and not the liver shunt. We will get him back today and vet says he is a little better, not much, not eating. Vet wants us to take him to the University of K-State Vet College on Monday. This is going to get expensive and I know my husband will not be savy with it. Any suggestions? By the way he is only 3 lbs 2 oz and probably not even that now =(
I think that is a good idea as this very well could be liver shunt based on your baby being young and ticks can be seizures and liver shunt dogs have seizures -- did they do blood work? were the ALT high? If so this is indicative of liver disease. Join this group asap Liver_Shunt_And_MVD_Support@yahoogroups.com if the vet is leading you to believe it is a shunt -- do you live near university of tennessee? If so i would go directly there to dr tobias if they are indicating a shunt she is the best
