Unlove Help

Hi everyone, I just joined this group. I have a beautiful 2 years male Yorki, but a few months ago he stared to coughing and make this estrange noise. Two days ago, we took Lucky to his veterinarian to take some X rays of Lucky’s chest to see the reason of his suffocation and coughing. After the X rays were taken, the doctor indicated to my family and I that Lucky has a Tracheal Collapse and he will need to see a specialist because he needs a surgery; in the meanwhile, he gave us syrup that Lucky has to take every twelve hours to calm his coughing.
I was reading about this condition and I learned that the surgery can cost up to $6,000.00 plus $1,000.00 per ring (which is placed where the trachea is narrow). I also read that the life of these rings is about 2.5 years and sometimes after the surgery dogs have some complications in the long term.
We really do not want anything to happen to Lucky, but in NYC everything is so expensive that we are very depress and desperate for this situation. We need to hear from someone that is or had experienced this situation to have an idea what to do next.

Regards,

Ricardo
