I have heard that if your female yorkie came from a large litter, you can expect her to have a large litter. My yorkie came from a litter of 8 and it was the mother's first litter. The mother's mother also came from a litter of 8. Could be coincidence of course. All of the puppies survived, however the mother was almost "nursed to death" and the babies were hand fed from day five on.
