In England we use clicker training alot and it definately works. My pup,Mitzi is 12 wks old today and i've had her for 4 wks. She is being trained to go outside but the same principles work for inside pad training. If she pees inside i ignore it & quickly mop it up unless i actually catch her, when i tell her no in a sharp voice & take her outside. Outside i tell her to go potty & when she does immediately click the clicker & give her a treat. Within 3 days she was going on command & sitting for her treat (she was 10 wks old when started)! I take her out first thing in morning, after meals, after sleep or playtime & probably every hr in between, so i'm up & down but only have a couple of accidents in the house & and she is still very young compared to alot of you pup owners out there. With the same clicker/reward system i have her trained to sit & come already. The idea is that adventually you can click before she does whatever you want her to do so you are effectively commanding her to an action.

I have bought the book you talk about and in another month i will give it a go as i think the principles in it will teach her to hold her pee untill you let her out, whereas at the moment i have few accidents because i constantly take her out, but she can't hold it very long.
