I live in southern Minnesota. I live on the top floor of a duplex and boy does it get hot here. In order to keep it cooler in here, I keep the windows and blinds down and the front door open. Plus I have three fans on and keep the lights off. It's not much better but I don't have a window ac and the central air doesn't seem to reach up here. But at night I open all of the windows (if it's a cool night) and stick the fans in front of the windows to blow the air around. I have tried to put ice in their bowl but they won't drink from it until the cubes are gone.... I swear they are scared of it. I hope this helps. It's not much but if I had a pool for them to go in (even a kiddie one) I would so do it.
