Things you can start to do:-
Contact your local citizen's advice bureau, they have advisors on legal matters - not sure if they cover this. But they are free...it won't cost anything to ask.
Speak to your vet, they may have experience of dealing with this sort of thing.
Apart from that I have no idea, I didn't even think you could still buy from pet stores anymore in the UK....

We got in touch with Trading Standards a Gov. Institute. As we donīt have a specific Law for pets they are treated as goods.

.. I have to send a letter to the pet shop asking for the money back and they have 15 days to answer, but this might start a 'battle' between us.
For now the Pet shop wants to help, replacing the dog and paying for the vet bill of Ģ200. The problem is to find a Yorkie as beautiful as the one I bought. Sunday we are gonna take a look at the new puppies and see.
We had an insurance for him but they cover for illness only after 15 days have passed and he got ill on the 5th day.
Other than that we have a receipt proving that we purchased the dog there among with vaccination card and Pedigree.
I hope we can solve this matter soon. We have our baby on the way and I don't want to have a newborn baby and a young puppy at the same time...
