Default Question: Walking a Puppy

Hello!

I've got a new question for all you wise Yorkie owners out there.

My puppy will be five months old on August 30th and she gets her last set of vaccinations on August 23rd. After her shots, I'd like to start taking her out for daily walks. Prior to this, I haven't felt safe doing much else than running her up and down the short sidewalk directly outside our apartment.

So, my question...how long of a walk should I expect my little girl to be able to accomplish? I'm assuming that if I wore her out too much she'd just sit down. However, I don't want to exhaust her...just burn off some excess energy and keep her in good health. I've seen several recommendations for a 20 minute walk daily, but I don't know if this is just for adult dogs.

Thanks so much for your advice!!
