Ok, yesterday I took my babies to the clinic at MSU for routine care. There was a woman there who was beside herself with grief. She had taken her mini-dachshund for their regular walk the day before when she got home from work. Three doors down from them live 2 bull mastiffs and a mini-pinscher kept in their yard (?!) by an invisible fence. She tried valiantly to help her dog, was knocked down and injured herself trying to get them off her baby. Her dog ended up having it's trachea ripped out. She managed to get emergency care for it and then it was transferred to MSU for surgery. When I left there yesterday the dog was on a ventilator and it was uncertain whether the dog would survive, or what the quality of life would be. As I sat there thinking about her story, all I could think about was all the dogs that are "just wanting to say hi, or play" who "has never hurt another dog" And people wonder
why we're protective of our furbabies

Thanks for listening...this has been bothering me all night.
