Oh- I hate that people let their big dogs run loose like that!!!! It's just not fair! I understand your not wanting to pick your baby up to not make him overly fearful or make him more anxious, but it's so scary cause these big dogs have the potential to really hurt our little ones- even if they are not meaning to.

I hope I never have to use it, but I want to have it to be able to stop an attacking dog if needed. I do pick my little ones up if a big dog is off leash and near us- I just don't want to risk it.
I don't know what the right answer is for you, but for me- I'd rather have mine be a little more fearful than risk having a big dog make a quick move and hurt or kill my babies.
