Wow, this is a tough one. I'm a first-time dog/puppy owner (had dogs as a kid but never owned one before now & I have 2!). I got Buster & Bailey in January when they were 11 weeks old. It has been frustrating at times, but is so awesome to have them for so much of their lives. I am glad that I got them when they were puppies, but I can understand why some people look for older dogs to adopt. There are so many methods to training that you can try - you just have to take the time to do it. You can improve the life of a rescue dog tremendously by adopting an older dog, however, those can come with issues that can make them harder to train than puppies. Ultimately, I think either way getting a new addition to your family will be work, but you have to almost meet them to determine if they are a right fit for your family. Good luck with your decision!
