When my Bella was diagnosed with Collapsed Trachea earlier this year the very first thing my Vet recommended was for her to "lose weight".

Another YTNR foster mom recommended trying Canidae Platinum (senior/over weight dogs) dry kibbles.

My Vet also recommended cutting the serving size recommended on the packaged to be reduced by a 1/3. He reminded me that Dog Food companies are interested in selling more dog food and will always recommend more to sell more.

In the meantime, Bella has come down from 14 lbs to 12.3 in a few short months.

She was a lil' cranky at first when her meals were reduced in size...but, like humans...she adjusted and now is perfectly content with her meals.

ps. Another important thing that I did was to have her Thyroid checked to rule out anything metabolic, too. She was negative.

Hope this info helps you...
