Lauderdale Beach Blvd area is our favorite (although it's mostly hotels here)! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PS - for those of you who are familiar with Overland Park, Kansas....that's what we're used to and would love to find a similar community here in Florida! Thanks again.
The Las Olas area is very nice, it has a lot of cute dog-friendly shops and restaurants. Sunrise Key and Lauderdale Harbors are nearby and also very nice. It's a bit pricey though, and in the Las Olas area especially there really aren't many single family homes (unless you're a millionaire)--it's mostly condos/apartments. Wilton Manors is a little further north and also a very nice area. If you're willing to go a little further south, Aventura/North Miami Beach is a nice area, and not too far from Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. To the northwest of downtown, there's also Coral Springs/Parkland/Coconut Creek which is one of the nicest suburban areas, but isn't quite as urban or dog- friendly. Definitely visit and look around before you make any decisions, my fiance and I were pretty shocked at some of the places we looked at...it can be pretty hit or miss in some areas--but I think that's true for most urban cities. Dog-wise, we like it here in Coconut Creek because we're really close to a huge dog park with a dedicated small-breed area, so our Stella LOVES that! There is also an abundance of good vets and doggy daycares and groomers. Hope that helps a little bit!
