Question Biting at her skin

Awhile back, when we first brought Ruby home, I posted a question about a hard place on Ruby's shoulder. It wasn't bothering her, I just noticed it when I was combing her. I was told it was probably scar tissue from vaccine injections. The vet even confirmed that. Well this morning I noticed her hair was all wet in this same spot and when I checked it out she had apparently been biting that same spot and made it raw. This surprised me because she has never bothered it before. I don't know why she all of a sudden noticed it. I cleaned it up and used a q-tip to put some Neosporin on it. So far she hasn't bothered it again but I have been watching her carefully. So I was just wondering if there is something else I can do for the spot itself and to keep her from biting it?
