Heartworm is spread by mosquitoes, so if you live in a climate where you have them even part of the year, it is recommended you keep them on heartworm year round. Heartworm is very deadly and there is no non-invasive way to treat. Once diagnosed with heartworm, arsenic is the prescribed method to get rid of them and many tiny furbabies die from the treatment.

Interceptor has the least reported problems out of all the heartworm meds and there is one available for 2-10 lb size furbabies. A year supply costs me $42 at my vet.......
