Works for me.
What I like about his teaching as compared to Victoria Stillwell's is that he has one correction for all bad behavior. A simple sound and a touch. And when they learn that along with the soumnd, comes the touch, from then on it just takes the sound and the snap of your fingers.
Victoria has a different method for every problem. IMO too much bribery, and not enough correction. In the animal world there are no bribes. |
I too used the sound and touch on Morgan when she was a baby. Now its either just the sound or a snap of the fingers. It snaps her right out of whatever she is doing that is inappropriate. I like that he doesn't use treats for everything. Our yorkies are so small that if we were to treat them for everything they did right or as a bride then they wouldn't be getting any of their dog food. Morgan barely eats her food as it is, so i don't want to be giving her treats all day long. It will just make her fat, not to mention, it will make me poor. LOL Don't get me wrong, i do give her treats, just not all the time. She'll get something maybe once a day. In my opinion, its just not necessary. praise and attention from me is her reward for good behavior.
