i've never had anyone try and take morgan from me without asking. I almost always have her in her carrier and no one ever tries to take her out of there.
i don't know what i would have done in your situation. i probably would have felt bad for the lady and let her hold her. its weird that she just took her from you but maybe she just didn't realize what she was doing because she was sad thinking about her lost pet?
