Work with a trainer. When I did intermediate training with Scooter, our trainer encouraged us to not open the door until he is sitting and stays sitting a few feet from the door. If he popped up, I had to close the door, even if it was a good friend. Your guests should be able to come and go with the door open and not getting attacked. Our trainer gave us some relly good tips on how to do it. It took quite a while but eventually he got it and now is much calmer when someone rings the bell.
