I wouldn't put the crate in the xpen. I did that and learned the hard way. I wish my xpen had a door though, Capone can't go in when he wants to lay down or rest. The xpen with the crate is a good idea, but could be $$$. I think either one would be fine, if you can find a good x-pen with a door.
