As I mentioned in my other thread she was a gift so I dont know exactly how old she is. But we are guessing she either 8 or 9 months old.
My husband has a male (mut) dog and we've been noticing that hes been all up in her area and my husband calms to have seen the male trying to have sex with her.
Anything specific I should be looking for as far as signs? Or are the months correct as far as when they get their first period?

The correct term is: In Season or In Heat.
Average time for a yorkie to come into heat is anywhere between 8 and 10 months of age. Each yorkie is different though, some can go into Heat as early as 6 months and others as late as 16 months.
Keep all male dogs away from her, she's much to young to even allow her to breed. The whole process takes 21 days. Boys are your indicators, they can tell a girl is coming into Heat 2 to 3 weeks before the process starts. The third week is when she is breedable.
