A healthy pup with average appetite, I think you could average in $50 a month. That would get your food, treats, pads, grooming supplies, bedding, a few toys, and cage/play yard/xpen/carrier (one time or at least only every few years expenses).

If you do professional grooming, add another $35-$55 every six weeks so averaging that as a monthly expense ...... $24-$37 a month. Speaking of grooming, the supplies can vary lot too. You can buy some Walmart dog shampoo or you can buy top of the line systems from shampoo, conditioner, sprays, detanglers, calming sprays, top knot gel, perfumes, you name it. Tools can range from a dimestore brush, to the more sophisticated Madan or Christensen brushes, butter combs, special pet hair blowers all manner of scissors, pluckers, and pads.

If you really like to spoil your yorkie with lots of clothing choices, all the latest toys, and designer carriers .... well add another $50 a month or so.

I would say realistically we spend anywhere from $50 - $150 a month for our precious pups. The cost per pup goes down for multiples as they can share some things.
